Diving jewelry care tips

Dear customers, to ensure you enjoy our diving jewelry for a long time, we would like to give you some tips on handling, storage, and care. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 49 / (0) 89 / 85 66 22 10.

1. Storing silver jewelry

If possible, store your jewelry in the enclosed packaging or in your jewelry box. Please ensure that your pieces do not scratch each other. Silver jewelry can oxidize and discolor when exposed to air due to the sulfur compounds it contains. Tarnishing of silver jewelry is a normal process that can be largely prevented by taking various measures. If you only wear your silver jewelry occasionally, we recommend storing it in the enclosed ziplock bags. These are airtight and prevent tarnishing. You can also put a piece of chalk in the packaging when storing jewelry. The chalk binds harmful substances and delays the tarnishing of silver jewelry.

2. Chokers and chains

If possible, store chokers in the closed position (see section 1, Storage). Chokers should never be tightly rolled or bent. Deformations and creases are usually irreversible. Therefore, please make sure to remove chokers before going to bed.

3. Removing discoloration

Silver jewelry can tarnish under certain conditions (contact with sulfur compounds). If discoloration does occur on your silver jewelry over time, it can usually be easily removed in a silver dip. Please rinse your cleaned jewelry thoroughly under running water and dry it with a soft cloth, possibly using a hairdryer. Jewelry cleaning cloths are only suitable for cleaning polished jewelry. Do not use them on matte jewelry, as the matte finish of the glass bead-blasted surface will otherwise wear off over time.

3.a. An alternative to removing discoloration

Fill a plastic bowl (important: not metallic) with hot water and add plenty of table salt. Stir until the salt is completely dissolved. Now you'll need a piece of aluminum foil. Form a small tub out of the aluminum foil and place your jewelry in it. Submerge the jewelry, including the aluminum foil, in the hot saline solution. Caution: It's hot! Use a wooden spoon if necessary. The discoloration on your jewelry should now slowly disappear and settle on the aluminum foil. However, this method does not work for all types of discoloration. Please contact us if you are unable to achieve cleaning success with either an immersion bath or this method.

3.b. Jewelry with enamel and gemstones, chokers

Please do not clean enameled jewelry, jewelry with gemstones, or chokers without first consulting us.

4. Cleaning jewelry

You can easily remove dirt from your jewelry with a warm dish soap solution and a soft cloth. If necessary, you can also use a soft toothbrush. However, this will only remove dirt and skin oil deposits.

5. Rubber bands

If possible, please avoid contact between rubber and skin cream, sunscreen, shampoo, or shower gel. The fats and creams contained in these can react with the rubber, causing it to swell and lose its elasticity over time.

6. Stud earrings

Ear stud nuts, especially silver ones, can lose their tension over time and should be adjusted. To do this, grasp the ear stud nut between your thumb and index finger and gently bend the jaws together until the correct tension is achieved.
